Cab mount tube length
 

I am new to the sight and wanted to know the length of the tubes that go through the rubber mounts for a 67 cab. I ordered a set from Brothers and no tubes came with them, I called Brothers but got no help.

Why is it you guys can answere all the questions about spark plugs - 20" wheels and lowering your trucks but when this newbie asks a legitimate question he gets no answere and there have been 7 pages of stuff since he asked. Surely someone out of the hundreds on this site has a set of 1/2 ton cab mounts they can stick a tape measure on the tubes. My truck is 3/4 ton so I'm unable to get a measurement. Pardon the rant ---- go back to talking about buddy buckets or spark plugs.

I had the same problem. No tubes. Instead of trying to track them down from where I bought the mounts, I went to Ace Hardware and bought some tubes in the hardware section and cut them to the length of the original rusted tube. A few caveats: you still have the original tube, the 67 (I have a 72) uses a tube that is the same diameter as what you can find at a hardware store. Hope this helps. I can try to get a measurement of the length needed when I get home.

I don't think that it has anything to do with him being a newbe. Everyone here is always eager to answer tech questions. There wasn't enough information given about what he wanted. Example 2x4 or 4x4. This is still not enough information. We need to know if it is a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. The 3/4 ton and 4x4s are the same, but the rear tubes are longer than the front tubes. The 1/2ton tubes are all the same. Anyway here is the answer for cab mounts tube lengths:
1/2ton 2x4s are 2 1/4" long
1/2ton, 3/4 ton and 4x4s are front 2 1/4" and the rears are 5".

When you posted I had just done mine and thrown the old rusted ones out, so frustratingly unable to help ya. I would say that from memory the sleeves ran the length of the rubber mounts when assembled, so if you already have new rubber mounts minus the metal sleeves, just fit them together and measure the length....Just a thought, you may need to cut them maybe a 1/2" shorter to allow for compression when you install and tighten the long bolts up.
Here's a pic of the old set it shows the sleeve on one, maybe while you have your new one's to hand you could work out how long this is considering how much is on show top & bottom of the rubber mount.
Maybe 2 1/2"?

Thanks for the reply, sorry about the lack of information, I wasn't thinking . I knew 1/2 and 3/4 were different but didn't think about 4x4.

yeah the only bad thing about brothers is they sell the kit without the spacers (tube)


Our kit is absolutely correct as original. The bushings are made exactly like GM and includes the correct hardware also. Note these do not come with spacers.

Looks like WES helped you out above on the measurements. if you cant find them locally contact WES and he should be able to help you out. you can check out his site at classicheartbeat.com , it is alway good to support board vendors....

I, for one, get so much help help here that I consider it a priviledge to offer a response to a question.

And I *really* appreciate an answer to one of my (many) inquiries when it comes as a known fact from a Forum Member. So, I don't offer up an answer unless I know, for sure, that I'd be helping.

As far as this specific question, most folks probably have limited access to this part because their beds are already bolted down. And, like me, maybe most are not *exactly sure* if there would be a difference between, say, a '67 C10 or 20 and a '71.......
