Budget minded front shocks
 

Im looking for replacement front shocks for my truck. The truck is lowered a few inches in the front so I probably need a shorter shock. The length sitting still is 11". Im thinking of one that will go from 8.5" to 12.5" of travel. I really dont want to spend more that $20 per shock.

You may have luck with the monroes 33033's.. or the # may be 333033 but they had less travel then i have now but several people use them. If that doesnt work you may have to use some shock relocaters that way you can use the cheaper stock type shocks. I found out that i am just going to have to fork up the cash and buy some drop shocks from belltech or someone. I currently have like 1 1/2 inchs of travel before my front ones bottom out but it seems to be ok as i don't go too fast down the back roads anyway and on open road they ride great.

Cash is short and my shocks are shot. I can do Belltechs next time.

Thanks John. I found that site eariler and it has a lot of good into, maybe a little too much info.

What is the difference between the shocks of a 60-62 and 63-66? I can find cheap shocks for a 65, but the 61's were much more $$.

The only difference between the stock FRONT shocks is a steel sleeve in the upper bushing on the 60-62 version. This prevents the bracket from collapsing. The 63-72 shocks mount on a shoulder stud, so the steel sleeve is deleted. If you have old 60-62 shocks, just press out the sleeve and put it in the later version, it fits perfectly. I'm running 63-72 shocks in the front of my 1960 using this method.

Gotcha! I just picked up a set of Monroe Gas-matics LT for $22 each. They are for a 65.
