67-72 vs 73+ axle question

just curious if there is a differance from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface in width for the front and the rear.

Thanks,
David

Re: 67-72 vs 73+ axle question

Well, the thing is, 67-72 aren't all the same. The rears changed in mid 70, and the later ones are the same width as 73-87. So early = 62" and late = 63-1/2". I believe the fronts changed in 71 when the disc brakes started, but I don't know the actual width.

i see so if i part a blazer to convert to 4x4 i would use 4.5bs wheels where as with the later trucks i would use up to 5.25?

Sorry, but can't offer any help with the backspacing. You will need to hear from someone who is into wide tires for that.
