Lowering without cutting the bed?
Hello guys, I'm wanting to lower the rear of my truck (65Chevy 3/4 ton) but I don’t want to cut the bed. Also my plain is to be able to haul a trailer with it so I'm going to put air bags in the back and do a small notch. I want to have it sit low and still have some good travel. I would like it to sit like it dose now but with more travle room. Lets see some picture if you got'em and tell me what suspension your running, thanks.:fb:

Re: Lowering without cutting the bed?
I ended up raising the bed floor about an inch so that I didn't have to cut a hole in the middle of the bed to allow the rearend housing pumpkin from coming up through the floor. I am also running air springs. If you are going tow, I would really consider one of the heavy duty C-notch kits.
Here is a photo of what the rear of my chassis looks like (I do not have the HD C-notch)... http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...rakeLines1.jpg |

This link opened my eyes! Not doing a notch. Would like to see some trucks without notches that have been lowered and baged, thanks guys. |
Re: Lowering without cutting the bed?
When I first bagged my '69, I didn't cut the frame and used a short cup to route the air line. The front has uncut Suicide Doors cups and drop spindles with Slam Specialties bags.
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...9/snowdump.jpg It was pretty low, but not crazy. I could have gotten the rear lower with some blocks, too. From the front http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...69/snow3-4.jpg Some articulation http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...2wheelsnow.jpg |
Re: Lowering without cutting the bed?
Mine is lowered without a notch. The rear springs were cut and the tortions on the front lowered. The front was lower that this picture shows. It was riding on the bumpstops and was killing me.

Re: Lowering without cutting the bed?
I think the rule of thumb is that if you want suspension travel and a c-notch, you better plan on cutting at least a center notch in the bed. you might get away with a 2 inch c-notch and not touch the bed. just make sure the bumpstops are relocated to prevent the pumpkin from coming through
