Wiring a '63 2-speed wiper switch
I found a 2-speed wiper switch with a push button for windshield solvent spray. The switch has three wires: Black, light blue & dark blue. I looked in my '63 shop manual, but the only wiring diagrams are for single speed switches. This is a new installation, so there are no old wires to follow. Can anyone tell me which wire goes where?
Thanks, -Bob |

My truck has this option and I'll try to get the info this weekend as I'm cleaning up some wiring stuff.

Re: Wiring a '63 2-speed wiper switch
Cool link, Mark. My switch doesnt work properly. Wipers only turn on when the fluid button is pushed; sounds like it may be a grounding issue from the description.

Re: Wiring a '63 2-speed wiper switch
Did a search and this thread came up.
I've tried using the diagram in the above thread. Persh link Does everything have to be hooked up such as the pump? I'm not gonna run a pump. http://www.persh.org/images/65Pickup...gram-stock.JPG I'm not getting anything. I bench checked the motor and it checked good I think. I got two speeds and park. I don't know how I did it cause I didn't have a good switch. I just unhooked wires until I got 2 speeds and park. Now the motor is in and I have a good (new) switch. Here's my motor http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1324615799 |

bump for previous question.
I don't know if the wiper motor is a factory replacement, I think not. help appreciated. |
Re: Wiring a '63 2-speed wiper switch
Hi Alan,
No, you don't need the washer pump hooked up to make the motor work. The black w/yellow wire is a +12V feed that's live whenever the ignition switch is on. For low speed, the switch grounds both the black and black w/blue wires. For high speed, the switch only grounds the black w/blue wire. Check to make sure your switch is making good electrical contact where it mounts to the dash. If the dash has been repainted it might be keeping the switch from making good contact. |
