big block swap

any help on putting my big block in my 86 3+3 4x4. I'm having a brain fart on the motor mounts. I have another one ton with big block motor mounts in it but it's not a 4x4 n the cross member is not the same. Maybe I'm overthinking this but I'm at a loss. Its better to ask and feel stupid rather than wastse tons of time n still have to ask

So the pads are in the same spot from small block to big block/ if so thanks. I had to put small block in her years ago and just now got another big lock done to put in her.

Re: big block swap

The only thing different between the SBC and BBC is the mount part that bolts to the block, with the BBC being shorter, I think. The bushing, or rubber/metal part, is the same. My BBC came out of a 4wd and it had plates sandwiched between the mount and block that were 4WD specific. Not really sure what they attached to, since I didn't pull the motor, but it looks like they connected braces from the motor to the frame?

And yes, the pad location is the same, as far as distance from the firewall goes.

I've always heard those as clamshells, and they are the same between small block and big block. Car and trucks are different. Doesn't matter 2wd or 4wd, SBC or BBC.

I did many SB to BB swaps, never changed the rubber mounts.

Thanks. I remember now. I have the plates on the small block still. They Have the rods that run down to the inspection cover. On the 4x4 its a heavy aluminum cover and they're suppose to help stiffen the th400 up . Hopefully I can hear her run tommorow. Thanks again
