Re: urthane bushings

do you have the arms off? I just did mine last week. I used a propane torch and set the bushings on fire. I let them burn for about 10 minutes and all the rubber pushed out. I was then able to slide the shafts off the arms. once the rubber was out of the way I just used an air hammer and pushed out the sleeves. eberything came apart real easy, just made a smokey mess! I will take them took work and have the new bushings pressed in. I am sure there are better ways but i was just making do with what I had.

worked pretty good for me, maybe took 15-20 minutes per arm.

If you are putting urethane bushings in you will need to reuse the metal sleeve.
The torch method works great for getting the rubber out.

You can also drill holes in the rubber and pull the pieces out, too.

good luck wwith them. I put the WHOLE complete set, Body Bushings and all. Man that really stiffened things up. I dont think I would do it to a truck again. Mine was an 85 LWB

Mine too. I vow to never in my life run another urethane control arm bushing. No matter how much of that expensive grease I smeared on them they creaked like the bed in a honeymoon suite at a 10 dollar motel.

I've run black ones for years and never have to grease them. Then I got a set of red ones and they make tons of noise. Supposedly the black ones have graphite in them to make them quite. I dont know if they do, but they seem to not make noise like the reds.

Re: urthane bushings

I always take them to a shop to have pressed out and new ones pressed in. I did a set once and from then on have taken them somewhere. I also have the lower ball joint pressed in and the upper ball joint cut out at the same time. They charge $75 to $100 around here and it's well worth it.
