windshield from 70 to 82
so would a windshield from a 79 fit an 82?
only issue is that my 82 has the built in antenna sorry typo in heading this is 79 from 82 |
Re: windshield from 70 to 82
All years 73-87 are interchangeble. Yes, the antenna option was not available on some older models. You can install an aftermarket antenna. Installers recommend a new rubber seal for windshield replacement.

Re: windshield from 70 to 82

Re: windshield from 70 to 82
Nope, mine can't pick up stations over 25 miles. I live in the city too.

Re: windshield from 70 to 82
I've used the "in glass" one no probs
maybe check your ant plug there are diff sizes might not be in all the way and the snap is on at the bottom |
Re: windshield from 70 to 82
well its a free windshield and i say free is cool. plus it will allow me once the ride is running to get it inspected an all. i really dont want to do away with built in antenna but . i really dont have much choice right now

Re: windshield from 70 to 82
bigred76 I don't think it does because mine worked great with the factory radio as well

Re: windshield from 70 to 82
Mine has an "in glass" antenna to.....I can't tell you if it works or not because the stereo is a piece of crap...every time I hit a bump it cuts out....and I have to slap the dash again to make it come on....I don't know if it's just mine or does anyone else who uses the "in glass" antenna have a small rectangular piece of plastic where the antenna wires come out of the glass? Mine has that small piece of plastic there at the base and it's filthy and I don't know if I should cut it off or not cause I don't know if it will mess up the antennae

Re: windshield from 70 to 82
My 84 has the windshield antenna and it works great. I put a new windshield in about a year ago and I can tell you be carefull installing an old piece of glass with a new seal. I went through two used pieces of glass before I had to accept the fact that they were too brittle and the new rubber can be a b*^ch to install. If you can save the rubber then I would suggest that. Also make sure you do it when its warm as possible. Good luck. Ohh and that ant. connection is just a snap on and its possible that you could have one thats loose other than that you cant beat an in glass ant in my opinion.

Re: windshield from 70 to 82
I have an in glass antenna coupled to a mirror mount one that I put on when I attached my CB antenna. The two wires go into a splitter with then feeds into the radio.
Crystal clear and GREAT reception in both city, hwy, country and under power lines. |
Re: windshield from 70 to 82
I've never had any problems at all with my in-windshield antenna. My radio is loud and clear using it. I'd just mount the new antenna to the passenger side fender near the windshield, it should look nice and normal.
