Re: temp gauge not working..
Did you double check your connections? maybe your printed circuit has a bad spot??

anyone know what kind of voltage or resistance ut should have in the prongs behind the gauge ? |
Re: temp gauge not working..
mine just went out to... crazy how that works..
|
Re: temp gauge not working..
mine only works when the engine is warm ever since my printed circuit caught fire!
|
Re: temp gauge not working..
Hope it's just the gauge itself, that would be easy enough to fix.
Love the clock... I have one in a box somewhere that I need to install. |

Re: temp gauge not working..
Hey mine stopped working too, I think Im missing the wire that goes from the gauge to the sensor, is it just one wire? what do I need to replace it?
And at some point they must have had a tach in these trucks cause I saw one on ebay the other day it sold for like $80, and I think it said it was from a 76? |
Re: temp gauge not working..
They did it's a rare opation tho. Or on bigger c30 trucks.

Re: temp gauge not working..
did you ever figure this out?
|
Re: temp gauge not working..
nope. dont feel like pulling the dash out and get my voltmeter out lol ill do it with in a week
|
Re: temp gauge not working..
If I am correct the sender is has an ohm resistance at a certain temperature. But I also dont know if the sender is PTC or NTC.
|
Re: temp gauge not working..
is it possible the wire to the temp sender got burned, i looked under hood to find it on the header
|
Re: temp gauge not working..
I believe if you ground the wire out on the frame, the gauge should peg. If that works, I would believe its the sensor thats gone bad
|
Re: temp gauge not working..
wire is not burned up on the header. ill double check tho and try to ground it out.

Re: temp gauge not working..
Here ya go man, this is how i fixed mine. I use to buy these at the local car quest. The company that use to sell them went out of busniess..i guess..i cant locate them with the old packaging. These really work, i have them in both my trucks
So i had one of the technicians at work check the resistor to see what kind it is so i can make more for myself in the future. Cuz this is my last one. I was told you can buy them at a radio shack, then u can crimp the connectors. This resistor works for oil, temp, and amp http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...s/kit_9461.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3.../fixaguage.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...istor_9463.jpg |
Re: temp gauge not working..
i can get gauges at the bone yard like nothing. if its a gauge thats a easy fix !

Re: temp gauge not working..
Sorry still stuck on the tach thing, why can't you get a repop Tach anywhere, LMC and Classic parts don't sell them, but they sell every other one
|
Re: temp gauge not working..
Repop of the camaro tach or the stock truck tach?
