Stainless steel brake line flaring

Folks,
Need to flare and bend some new brake line. I need a relatively cheap but good flaring tool and a bender for my new 3/16 stainless steel...any one with experience and or a specific product suggestion?

to flair stainless properly it's best with a hydralic flair tool they're in the $500 range

Stainless lines are tough to bend and flare. I have done some 3/16 lines, but I have a Matco tubing bender kit. The tough part is to make the double flare. The darn stuff is so hard the flares come out poorly, unless you take your time.

You CANNOT flare stainless with a hand flaring tool. You will crack the tubing. The only tool capable of doing it is a hydraulic flaring set. I paid 480 for mine but it makes nice pretty double flares in stainless.

Save yourself some trouble and get the NiCop tubing. You will NOT be happy bending stainless without really good (read $$$) tools.

The NiCop will not rust and will bend to your will quite easily.

... or buy pre-bent. I can't stress this enough.

Are you switching out to AN fittings? I ask because stainless tubing does not take well to double flaring. I only do 37-degree single flares on stainless tubing. As far as a hand flaring tool, I use a Roto-Flare that is more commonly found in the aircraft supply industry. I've used my old steel SnapOn tube bender for many years...stay away from the plastic or composite hand benders because the stainless tubing can be rigid.

Yes, I will be using AN fittings and flaring 37 degrees. Should have mentioned this in the first place.

Thanks again. I will be using the 37 degree AN type connections. I think I have a good flare tool looking for a bender..
