LMC headliners
 

Hi guy's,, I have been doing my interior over. P.O had material on inside of roof. Cleaned it up and want to put a headliner in. There are no holes on the inside of the roof. I was looking at the vynal covers headliner from LMC. Where there was not a headliner before can i use the one from LMC?. How does it fasten to the roof?. Do i need buy the chrome piece to?. Thanks for the help. Russ

You can cut holes to use the plastic chrome trim, but it is a TOTAL pain to do, and not worth it IMO.
Just glue the headliner to the metal. I used liquid nails myself. You'll need to glue it either route you go.

Hi Longhorn man, thanks for the feedback. I will do what you suggest and put just the headliner up with liquid nails. I was also thinking of putting up the abs plastic headliner with the speakers in it, but i think the stock looking headliner will look better. Thanks again...Russ

I used one of their headliners in my '71 GMC. I went to the Napa auto parts store and picked up some 3M Adhesive for headliners. 3M makes a great product in my opinion.

When I installed it, I removed my bench seat. Then I cut a piece of plywood the same shape as the headliner. Once that was cut, I cut 2 or 3 pieces of 2x4's so it would hold the headliner and the plywood template in place by wedging the 2x4 between the ceiling and floor. It's been on there for 4 yrs and still looks perfect!

Dude, I put the same headliner in last month(mine came from the truck shop-in orange,ca.), and I used 3M super duty trim adhesive #08090 --- that's what the crap is made for!! It's about $16.00 at the auto paint store.

While I've never used that specific 3M product, I have used plenty of that type of adhesive and was always let down (no pun intended) a few years after the fact. Liquid nails will hold forever.
I did it very much like Jonce described, except U left the seat in and let the springs in the seat push the 2x4s and plywood up against the ceiling
