Key cylinder on drivers side door
My key cylinder was working just fine until I put my new weatherstripping in and it won't lock when I shut the door all the way but, when the door is shut half the way it will lock. Can somebody help me find a way to get the door to lock all the way?:chevy:

Try pushing in on the door when you are trying to turn the key.

I think Jim has the answer. It is because there is too much pressure on the door latch. If it is hard to lock you can move the striker plate on the door jamb out a little. Just be sure to mark around it with a fine felt tip marker before you loosen the bolts so you know where it was originally. I would only move it out about 1/16th of an inch to start with. Make sure it doesn't drop down any.... LockDoc |
Re: Key cylinder on drivers side door
Have you tried poking a few needle sized holes into it? might release some of the air caught up in it.

Okay I will try that and I will let you know if it works. No I haven't tried the needles.

Re: Key cylinder on drivers side door
I put a shim in the striker like yall told me and moved the striker forward a little bit and I put some pressure on the door and the door locked. Thank yall for the info.
