Dual Wheel Conversion
 
I asked this question in a previous post about the 14 bolt gear ratio. I thought it required a new thread.

What rear would be required to perform this conversion with the result being factory appearing? Meaning I want to use the rear fenders. Does andybody have a width measurement BP to BP for the correct rear?

I think any 1 ton dually parts from 73-91 should bolt on. I've seen a 87-91 blazer converted to a dually rear!!! It was for sale. If I see it again I'll take a picture of it. If the dually will bolt to a Blazer the rear ends should bolt to a truck. The easiest conversion is to find a dually bed. The fenders are availble but you would have to put them on yourself.

That would be great. I have seen suburbans converted to, ends up being a nice package. You say the fenders are still available, is the from GM?

I beleive the pickup rear is wider than the cab/chassis?

I do not know all the #'s But I know that there are at least 3 different 14 bolt rears
single wheel
cab & chassis
dual wheel pickup
I also believe the spring hangers are different and the shock mounts are as well

:bowtie: i have a 1976 3/4 ton crew cab that i converted to one ton dually by using Arrow Craft wheel adapters on the rear, and i changed the spindle, rotor and calipers on the front. The ball joint sizes are the same for a 3/4 and one ton front ends and so are the upper and lower control arms. I sent one day doing the front end and about two hours on the rear. I bought some dually fenders from an afermarket fiberglass company, but the fendes are not the same as gm fenders (they mount differently, but look the same). So i found a dually bed and put it on my truck.

prices for the adapters were 449.50 shipping included. I bought them through T.E.A. 1-800-500-0497, or 1-713-644-0497

i bought the bed for 600.00 and spent about 400.00 on the parts for the front end, that includes the parts for new bushings and ball joints from Auto Zone.
