Speed Hut GPS
Well I ordered my speed o and Tach for the truck. I ordered the 4" speedo GPS and the 3 3/8 tach to go in the middle. I'll use one of my own fuel gauges and buy all new oil, volts and water. Going to buy the little 2" gauges at O-Rileys when I need them.
Anybody out there have a new Ampmeter? I'm going to keep the dash I have now since it has all the factory goodies in it.;):chevy: |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Subscribed ! I am very interested in how it works out as I want to do the same thing this fall. Good luck !

Re: Speed Hut GPS
Well it will be a little while since I have to get all the parts together. I have a couple of old dashes I may do a mockup on before buying a new one.;):chevy:

Glad to see you are getting your install off the ground Andy. I am going to post a link to my install for the folks that read this thread, to give them a little more insight on the GPS speedo. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=421745 LockDoc |

I have some extra gauges. If you can't find any down your way let me know. LockDoc |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Thanks, I may need to get some from you. I get all my stuff out and see what I do and don't have.;):chevy:

Re: Speed Hut GPS
I got some of my old dashes out and found I have all the factory guages I need and a brand new circuit board for a factory Tach. I bought it years ago in case mine didn't work. I will need a new lens though for the dash maybe. I may just cut up one of the old ones I have. I have a old dash outer skin I painted years ago that I'm going to use as a geanee pig.
Hope the gauges show up this week while I'm gone. I'll start posting pictures next week I hope. Keep your fingers crossed Doc. This should be fun!:chevy: |

I don't think you will run into any major problems but if you do post 'em up... Good luck! LockDoc |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Well after several weeks of waiting they showed up today!!! Been 2 weeks. I played with them today just looking at what they will look like. I got the 4" speedo and the 3 3/8 Tach.
1st is the gauges. Speedo: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/..._leaks_065.jpg Tach: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/..._leaks_066.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/..._leaks_064.jpg Here is a mockup in a old cluster. I just wanted to get a idea of how they will fit. I think they fit good. I may end up buying the rest of them.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/..._leaks_068.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/..._leaks_067.jpg I have to decide which way to go. Going to O-Rialleys in the AM to see what they have to offer in the small bottom guages.:chevy: |
Re: Speed Hut GPS

Lookin' good so far. Yeah, if you can get the other ones to match that would be killer.... LockDoc |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Yea, I think that is going to be the way to go. The gas guage looks out of place. I really didn't want to do all that wiring though. I was planning on the regular circuit panel working most of it.
I was surprised that the new gauges fit inside the cluster with no mods as far as the back panel.:chevy: |

That makes it nice for sure. The less mods you have to do the better...:) LockDoc |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Got to have a circuit board for a non tach dash along with a lens for the same. I'll have to cutout the tach and speedo area so the speedhut stuff will work. Then decide on the rest after I get that done. Anybody have something they want to get rid of?:chevy:

Re: Speed Hut GPS
I know this thread is a little behind. Just haven't had time for the install. Just ordered the new dash, lens and printed circuit. I hope to work on it next week when my parts get here.
Going with all mechanical gauges except for the stock gas guage. Everything else will be mechanical!;):chevy: |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Well I guess I'm putting in another order to SpeedHut for the 2 1/16" water, oil, volts and air/fuel mixture guages. I was going with just generic gauges but have changed my mind. ;):chevy:

Re: Speed Hut GPS

Might as well get them all alike...:).. I think I am going to get a full set for the '70 when I get that far. LockDoc |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Yea,
I been playing with it some the past few evenings after work. I just don't think the mixing of the gauges would look to good. I'm also going to order the wiring harness for 8 gauges to make all the connection cleaner and simpler. I'm going to call tomorrow and order them along with asking if I can get a 3" are 4"gas gauge to match. ;):chevy: I got the new dash and printed circuit and lens the other day. So it's just a matter of getting the gauges all now. I have a couple of ?'s though about the fuel / air gauge that I hope they can answer to.:chevy: |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
I ordered the 2 1/16" volt, oil, fuel/air, gas and water guages today got the wiring harness to connect all the lights of them together to make it one simple hookup and the Gas is 3 3/8" to go back in the regular spot!
I hope to work on it next week after returning home from the beach.;):chevy: Mine is white numbers that glow red at night. Muscle! Red pointer! http://www.speedhut.com/custom_gauge...number-820.htm |
Re: Speed Hut GPS

That should work. keep us posted on the install... LockDoc |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
I will.
I told them to hold the order until next week after I get back home. They said they would. I'll call them next Tuesday and have it sent out. I should be home by then! Can't wait to see them installed. I plan to just tie into the wire connection on the harness. I ordered the new circuit board and lens but want need either one now. Oh well. I have it if I ever need it. I hope I can get the oil sendor and the cable for the transmission figured out by then.;):chevy: |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Another update. The order is suppose to ship tomorrow they said. Because I speacial ordered the 3 3/8" fuel guage it took a little longer. I called today and was told this. Hope to have them next week.
I will have the factory looking guages in all the right spots with the air/fuel mixture guage in the vacume spot. Once I get the guages I will start looking into a radio harness plug to use for all the wires.;) |
Re: Speed Hut GPS

Good luck on the install... It should look great! LockDoc |
Re: Speed Hut GPS
Yea I sure hope so. I got the dash and lens for a factory guage setup and now don't need any of it. Going to try and keep the factory harness in tach so if I ever go back the factory stuff it will work. I'll need a nice shematic of the harness so I can pull 12 volts and all the lights out of it. The only thing I have to figure out is how to do my high beam indicator light. I guess I will drill a hole over the speedo and put a small bulb in it.;):chevy:

Re: Speed Hut GPS
I got a tracking number so maybe I'll see them Saturday! You think!;):lol::lol::chevy:
