Advice wanted, LQ9 on a 64 1/2 ton frame

I purchased the motor mounts that Early Classics sells after seeing the install pics from this board. Once I got them, trimmed the frame rails and installed them, installed the LQ9 with 4L80E tranny I found an issue. With the motor at 4 degrees and the pan of the tranny level, the centerline of the output shaft of the tranny is 5/8" over the top rail. Stan at ECE has been very helpful but is at a loss about how to solve the issue. The motor sit awesome between the rails, there is 1" clearance on the pan. What issues might I have if I tilt the motor down more to get the tranny output below the top of the frame rail. Does it need to be below? is there enough clearance for an unaltered cab?

I wish I could help, but I put that kit in a 67 and it fit perfectly.

Clyde, do you remember what the elevation of the tailshaft was? was it below the top of the frame rail?

You know what, I am stupid, I used the POL perches not the ECE perches. I am sorry!

Dino,

The original 283 in my 65 had the crank shaft centerline 11" above the bottom of the front cross member (board clamped to the bottom of the cross member, measured up to the crank center line at the harmonic balancer).

I set my LS2 crank center line 11-5/8". At a 3 degree angle (low at back) the transmission snout is about at the center of the frame rail (but it is a T56). I have about 1/8" clearance with the cab floor but it is a low hump cab floor.

Hope this helps some.

Here's some measurements I took of my 4.8l 4l60e in my 65. I used the ECE mounts. My tranny pan slopes a bit to the rear, not much. I took a look at my 03 Z71 and the tranny pan slopes a bit to the rear also. Do you have any pics of your setup?

I am now revisiting the 4L80 transmission. Although there is not a huge length difference, there is an overall size difference and I'm certain a 4L65 (which was origianlly behind this motor when it was in a 2003 Silverado SS) will be a better fit. From what I have gathered, the 4L70 would be even better. The 4L60, 65 and 70 all have the same dimensions but the 65 and 70 will not work where a 60 has operated because of different style of sensors.
