s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
I would like to know if this configuration would work on an s10 frame swap. I have the stock rear end, not the 4x4. I don;t have a problem with tubbing, I just want to make sure that there is clearance and that it would look decent. Maybe someone has this setup and could post a pic of how it looks. The truck is at stock height, no lowering blocks or anything.
Front: rim: 18x8 5x127 Offset 0 tire: 245/40/18 Rear: 20x8.5 5x127 Offset 7 tire: 275/35/20 thanks for any help. |

Im not sure if 0 offset is centered and what that 7 offset is. But 18x8 and 20x8 should look pretty good provided you have the right offset. Here is a couple of pictures of mine with 20x8.5 with 6.25bs and 20x10 with 4.75bs.;)

Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
is that stock ride height on the truck...not lowered? If so, that looks pretty sick!
what are the tire sizes? |

What brand are your tires? I have been having trouble finding a matching set in those exact sizes that arn't ridiculously priced. Marc |

Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
that is wider than the stock s10 rear. can't remember buy how much but i will have to take that into consideration on backspacing...

Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
At close to stock height I don't think you will have any real problems. Most of the guys have to run spacers on the front to get a more standard size tire out to where it looks right and doesn't set in too far.
The info I found says that the 2wd S-10 rear axle is 53-5/8 wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface while the 4x4 axle is 60 inches mounting surface to mounting surface. I've never measured what my tires are outside to outside but I have about a half inch clearance between the fender lip and the sidewall. I have 255-60x15 on 8 inch rims on it now with a mid 70's Nova axle. With the axle width and the wheel/tire info you should be able to figure the total outside width or what it would be fairly easily by laying a straight edge across the sidewall and measuring from the wheel's mounting surface to the straightedge multiplying that x 2 and adding in the axle width. |

Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
not lowering the truck...won't be able to get it out of my crazy driveway. as for backspacing, I don't have a clue. I just found out backspacing is different from offset. haha

Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
thought about airbags...but $$$ is tight.
thanks for the backspace instructions, dumb question... so I assume I can measure the current backspace of my 15" rims and then add the difference from the edge of the fender to the front of the rim to figure out what I would need for the new rims/spacers for the look I want? |

Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
I bought mine from Discount tire, Dunlop signature series I went with a 255/35/20 on the 20X10 and 225/40/18 on the 18x8. They were really good on price and they had a rebate to boot.

Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
with a stock s10 rear will I need spacers, or is there a way to figure that into the backspacing of the rim?

You can figure that in, it all depends on the wheels you want. I could have gotten American Racing Torq-Thrust and had many different choices on backspacing, but the price was CRAZY!!!!! So I decided to get the Boss 338's instead for half the cost.
On back I began w/ the original 2wd s10 rearend but had to run 2 inch spacers. The gear ratio was not what I wanted so I went and bought a 4x4 rearend w/ a better ratio. The 20x10's are 20mm offset w/ a backspace of 6.225. Up front 18x8's are +2mm offset w/ a 4.517 backspace. I am running 2 inch spacers on the front. Here's a picture of the truck in which I feel in love with the wheels notice the deep offset. I think it's on a S10 chassis too. |
Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
thanks for the info and pic. That is a GREAT look! I have 15" weld rims and really want to upgrade. Might have to put those up for sale and bite the bullet on rims. I had read the Boss 338's had some finish issues? Are you experiencing any of that? Where did you get those 2" spacers?

Re: s10 swap...rim/tire configuration???
I haven't even washed mine for the first time yet since truck ain't running. So I don't know about issues but, they are definately a popular wheel. I bought my spacers from Ecklers Corvette in 2002 to run 17 X 9.5 vette wheels on my s10 I had at that time. I think they have since discontinued them. They haven't been ran in over 6 years. They actually are sold thought Vette Brakes in St Petersburg, Florida.... I think.
