Re: carb whistling
Make sure all your vacuum lines are connected. Sounds like a vac leak somewhere.

Re: carb whistling
Maybe it was just happy to be getting some attention. What did you adjust to make it whistle? and yep, check the vac lines.

Re: carb whistling
Base plate gasket (carb to manifold). If it's one of those thin paperboard ones I'd look there. Use a thicker cardboard gasket and some (thin layer) RTV.

Re: carb whistling
who makes the thicker cardboard gasket i can only find the thin ones.

Re: carb whistling
Most carb kits come with the thicker ones. You may get by with some RTV on your finger, smeared around the base.... if you're not too fussy about those things. Spray some carb cleaner or open a propane bottle (slowly) near the gasket around the base... if the RPM goes up, you have a leak. Smear some RTV there.

Re: carb whistling
While it works?

Re: carb whistling
I agree with others , carb spray or a little propane really works ... Ck. vacumn lines , ( infact as you pull each vacumn line off .. take a razor and recut and fit back on , that way the hose isn't swallon at the end and you have a clean cut and fit ) .. carb base , carb bolts tight on manifold , tighten all screws both on top and underneath carb if pulled , ck. throttle shaft bushings ... just covering the bases .. Good Luck ...
