whole dash? or do you mean just the face of the instrument panel?

Re: anyone got a 6 guage dash template?

Face of instrument panel for aftermarket gauges. I just dont want to spend $150.00 on a billet one, besides that would go well in my truck.

If it is for a 65 what i did for a 66 i had was to take the glass out of your cluster and trace it on to a thin peice of wood.use the guages you want and trace and then cut with a hole saw.you might have to trim a little then stain, will look great

On my 60' I used masonite board to mock my dash insert up. I coverd it with some chrome vinyl sign decal material. It was onlly going to be temporary , just a pattern but that was 5 years ago and it has held up fine and was real easy to fab up.

Cardboard or masonite works well. I used the existing clear dash lense.

I taped over it w/blue painters tape & used poster-board circle templates to get an idea of where I wanted things. The circle templates were indexed vertically/horizontally to put reference marks (they help easily locate the C/L of where to drill).

I did what someone mentioned. I took the glass/plastic face and took it to tap plastics. Had them cut it the the shape of the glass. Then I took it home and made a template of where the gauges were going to go and busted out the hole saw.

this is my DD, so I dont want to have it down for anytime. I am going to see if I or my dad has an old dash surround and maybe I can make it our of smoked plexiglass.

I disassembled the cluster & used the outer bezel to trace the physical opening of the cluster onto some poster board. I included reference marks & such to make things easily repeatable.

I made everything work off the template so you could do the same to determine your layout dimensions w/o having extended downtime.

What about the lens? I have seen replacements, but they are stock. I want the stock look with black numbers and letters. Is there a vinyl kit or something? I could take the glass out and have one made, but it would be nice to do it myself.

I have a stainless piece cut to fit the bezel with a center tach hole punched; I made a couple and only used one, so this ones left over if anyone wants to have the hard part done already :) Just gotta punch the other gauge holes and polish her up.

I could probably draw one up in autoCAD. Are those gauges you bought 2-1/16" diameter?

I was also thinking of drawing one up in cad.
One thought I had was to scan mine on a flatbed scanner, and then import the image into acad.

Re: anyone got a 6 guage dash template?

Yeah, if you have a flatbed scanner big enough, that would be an easy way to get a basic outline to start with.

Went searching for dash gauge template thread and forgot I was involved in this one.
Gotta scan mine and trace it in CAD.
.
In the meantime, has anyone have different template layouts for various guage layouts?

Here's a link to a short thread I did when I made mine. It has a few good pics of my layout. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=810650
