Cadillac 500 1979 chevy K30 1 ton 4WD

And I have some questions. I was given a 500 from a 1973 Eldorado FWD and have a couple points I wanna hit. The truck is a 1979 chevy K30 1 ton dually
with a turbo 400, np205 and a GM10.5 14 bolt 4.56?

- Motor mounts make my own or get the frame mount and pad from a 1977-79 deville?

- BOP with the trans fit on the back of the motor being cadillac used a turbo 400 too?

- oil pan can i use the existing oil pan on the eldorado rear sump?

- torque converter use the existing flywheel on the 500 and get a converter for a eldorado?

thanks!

yep eldo pan with rear sump
- torque converter use the existing flywheel on the 500 and get a converter for a eldorado?

the bolt holes are the same for either

thanks!

add a mini high torque starter...my truck is a 1970 2wd truck but the best tip I can say is use the trans in the truck as a motor locator...the bell housing pins will line up but not the bolt holes....put the motor in tight to the old trans then pull it back out swap to the BOP finish welding in your mounts and slide it back in with the BOP trans..this way all your linkage and cooling lines will work ..you can look though my build but its pretty straight forward

Here is a buildup of K5 with the same engine and trans. http://4x4mecca.com/forum/truck-gall...ct-torque.html Maybe there is some things you can use for yours.

I would use one of these. In this case I think it would save a lot of time.

A guy I knew when I was working in LA 10 years ago had a 77 K20 with a 472 Caddy engine mated to a 700R4/NP208. Said it got around 13mpg and pulled his 25' Airstream up the Grapevine like it wasn't behind him. Whoever did it did a nice job because it looked like GM installed it.

You can find parts and adaptors at http://www.cad500parts.com/

Welcome to the site. The 500 is lighter than a 454! It makes gobs of torque!! You'll really like it.
