starter sol 73gmc 350v
 

Hi all, i am starting the engine with an acutron remote hookup. The engine starts but the solenoid doesn't disengage. A loud noise comes from the starter area. Is the starter bad. Up to now never has been used. the starter w/solenoid was purchased on amazon new. Please advise. Thanks, Frank 73oldie.:gmc2:

if the starter didnt disengage you should prolly remove it and bench test it to see if its bad

Hi Rusty, I seemed to have found the problem. I had an exitor wire wired to the solenoid post. After i removed the wire the solenoid disengaged. Ths exitor wire according to Ezwiring should go to the ignition. Then from ignition to the s post. Now i have to figure that hookup. Am restoring this truck. Thanks for the help, i submitted a new problem thread today. Frank thanks again.
