need help with 4l60e
 

i have a 1999 chevy c1500 new body style with the 5.3l. the trans in the truck just went out and i have a 1997 onle body style that has a good trans it has the 4l60e. my ? is will they sawp out.

will a 97 4l60e swap with a 99 new body style 4l60e
 

my old 97 has a good 4l60e but my 99 has a bad one will they swap out thanxs

the old trans will have an extra bolt hole in the top that you wont use. other than that id think they would be a direct swap out. torque converters may be a smidge different. i couldnt say as far as anything else

In theory they should.. Are they both from a small block V8?

Yes the 97 had a 5.0 vortec the 99 has a 5.3l

Since VCM's are different from year to year, the one thing that might be different is the connection. Can you look at them before getting the replacement to see if it matches your connector style?

There was a change in I think in 98 that the pressure control solenoid went to pulse width modulated. Puting and older one in from a newer or newer to older will burn up the pcs. That and i think bellhousings were a tad different, as the ls series motor had a slightly different bolt pattern.

Well i found out that the 97 4l60e is shorter than the 99 4l60e and the tork converter is smaller on the 97 than on the 99 thanxs for the help tho guys
