Depends, your 72 should have a NP205 and if it was previously bolted to a TH350 and the TH350 your swapping in was also bolted to a NP205. Now if the donor TH350 was bolted to an NP203 I don't believe they are a direct swap but maybe. Anyone else?

i'm not sure what is in the 72 yet but i do know the 79 has the full time case i believe that would be the 203 am i correct.

That's correct a NP203.

Your going to need to get the adapter for the NP203. I believe the output shafts should be the same. Advance Adapters sells them but if you can get the original, it will be cheaper. My '69 has a NP203 in it. The engine & tranny are also from a later model truck so I'm not sure if it is a direct bolt up. Get the cross member and the rods that connect the t-case to the engine too! Grim Reaper is the resident expert on 203 t-cases.
