305 carb on 350?

I`ve got a 83 c-10 with a 305. It only has 79k miles but it`s gutless. Was thinking about dropping in a 260hp 350 crate engine and reusing all my other parts. Are they calabrated different or will I be good to go?

If its a quadrajet it should work fine. might need some adjusting but as far as i know the 305 and 350 had the same carb

I did the same thing... or my dad had the 350 dropped in, rather, but mine's an 84 with originally a 305.. had 400k on it.. it was tired, but everything form the 305 bolted right up to the 350.. intake, carb and all..

Matter of fact, I had to cut open the original air cleaner to let the 350 breathe..

Thanks guys. I was going to do this swap on my old 84 before I sold it but my friend who is a GM master tech with 30+yrs said they are calibrated different adn the 84 was computer controled. I just don`t want to mess with much to install it.

You really shouldn't have any problems... I have the ecu controlled carb, haven't had any issues since the swap..... it passes smog no problem, and runs great! Just have to run a lil carb cleaner thru it every so often.

Dead on comment. You can always change jets if you have to.

Re: 305 carb on 350?

Thanks again for the info guys. Its going to be tax time at the earliest before i could do it. Been thinking of going with a 4.8 or 5.3 but my little 5.0 runs so good. You can barley tell its running untill I hit the a/c and it starts to shake a little but otherwise its as smooth as can be. Just doesn`t have much power and seems like Im always having to put my foot in it to get it going which sucks up the gas. Im thinking the 350 might get better mpg cuz I won`t need as much of the gas pedal to get going.
