rack and pinion steering.
im switching to rack and pinion steering.
they have pinto or mustang manual racks. which one is better? |

Pinto usually has struts and is lighter setup (as in is for lighter cars) The Mustang II is a bit stronger from appearances. I'm not savy enough on chassis to say one is 'better' than the other for any reason.
If for no other reason than the weight of our trucks,, I'd consider the Mustang II |

well mines gutted out pretty good. and the new engine im building has an aluminum block. so its only going to get lighter.
what i was wondering though, are the overalll widths of both the same or is on shorter? cause you and i both know these trucks are pretty wide hahaha |

Hmmmmm. That will be a Mustang II. Say no to Pinto's. Well there used alot in drag racing. I'm just a Mustang II fan.

I am a big fan of Mustang II IFS & Ford 9" rear ends. Most guys do this on thier Hot Rods, Street Rods, Cars and Trucks. The most common 3 Front Stubs are - Mustang II IFS - Camaro - Nova Stub Frames. But alot of guys are doing the bolt on later model stuff now on the '60's truck. Now if you wanna research on Mustang II IFS you will be pleased to what you do find. Mustang II IFS Systems are a natural conversion for your chassis, giving you a soft, smooth ride. i just gonna get the wilwood pinto setup. im going to take my crossmember out anyway to channel it for another 1.5 inch drop in front. since i lowered the rear more. so im just gonna weld brackets on to the front.

Post up when you do it. I still haven't messed with mine. I got a pinto rack and 4th gen Fbody rack but I'm leaning toward using the pinto rack.
