Re: rack and pinion steering.
Pinto usually has struts and is lighter setup (as in is for lighter cars) The Mustang II is a bit stronger from appearances. I'm not savy enough on chassis to say one is 'better' than the other for any reason.
If for no other reason than the weight of our trucks,, I'd consider the Mustang II

Re: rack and pinion steering.
Hmmmmm. That will be a Mustang II. Say no to Pinto's. Well there used alot in drag racing. I'm just a Mustang II fan.
http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/...ion/index.html Rack And Pinion Steering Conversions http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/h...g/viewall.html Well I can tell you what I done on my '62. Mustang II IFS Suspension (Manual Rack Steering) with 2" Billet Aluminum Wheel Spacers. Heidts MP-042 - Superirde Front Coil-Over Shocks for Mustang II Suspension Coil-Over Spring Rate (lbs/in) 500 lbs./in. 2” drop Spindles 58 Ford Wagon 9” Rear End (Axle Length 57.25 inches) Wheelbase has been extended to 117". Front wheels: Weld Racing Draglite 90-Series Wheel 15 x 7 Rear wheels: Weld Racing Draglite 90-Series Wheel 15 x 12 Front tires: Falken Visa 912 Tires - 758 P215/65R15 96H Rear tires: Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro Tire, 29x15.50-15LT PROJECT: "FULL METAL YELLOW JACKET Build Thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=321173 I hate the torsion bar big heavy front ends of the 60-62 frames. I am a big fan of Mustang II IFS & Ford 9" rear ends. Most guys do this on thier Hot Rods, Street Rods, Cars and Trucks. The most common 3 Front Stubs are - Mustang II IFS - Camaro - Nova Stub Frames. But alot of guys are doing the bolt on later model stuff now on the '60's truck. Now if you wanna research on Mustang II IFS you will be pleased to what you do find. Mustang II IFS Systems are a natural conversion for your chassis, giving you a soft, smooth ride. I could not afford a kit from Heidts or Fat Mans Etc... www.heidts.com/ www.fatmanfab.com/ www.progressiveautomotive.com So me and pops ran up on a 1976 Mustang II IFS (Manual Rack Steering) at a car show years ago. The years are from 1974–1978. If you go to a junk yard 99% of the time you will find that the front end is missing.... Now you know why. They are very very popular!

Re: rack and pinion steering.
i just gonna get the wilwood pinto setup. im going to take my crossmember out anyway to channel it for another 1.5 inch drop in front. since i lowered the rear more. so im just gonna weld brackets on to the front.

Re: rack and pinion steering.
Post up when you do it. I still haven't messed with mine. I got a pinto rack and 4th gen Fbody rack but I'm leaning toward using the pinto rack.
