Header flange thickness

It has been suggested to me that I try to find headers with 1/2 inch flanges. I've looked everywhere and they don't seem to be very prevalent. I'm looking to heat wrap a natural finish set of headers, and don't want to weld them up myself, I'm a little green for that level of build. I was hoping that i could keep the cost under $500 I'm not sure if 3/8 is the new standard and I have outdated information, or if I'm just looking in the wrong places. Thanks guys!

pending on what engine you are running, I think member Hart_Rod has a custom made set that are very nice....check the parts section...

:flagw:Truthfully, I don't think I've ever seen any commercially made headers with 1/2" flanges. About the thickest flange out there are 3/8". Sanderson has 3/8" flanges. Some others do also.
.
Another suggestion, if you want heavy flanges, you might consider these:

I to have never seen commercially available headers with 1/2 inch flanges. As far as header wrap, think you should research that a little. They will be dust in about a year. Most header manufacturers void the warranty of wrapped headers.

5/16 is common, 3/8 premium. Have never seen (not saying they don't make) any commercially available headers with 1/2 inch flanges.

I have never heard of a 1/2" flange. 3/8" will be fine, Thorleys have a 3/8 flange and build a nice header.

Thanks, this helps a lot. I think it should be easy to find some nice 3/8" flange headers for less than an arm and a leg.
