leaf spring upgrades?

I need to replace my leaf springs and also move a shock perch to accommodate the 9.5 GM 14 bolt 4.10 posi rear I just bought.

I've heard of running Jeep leafs, but has anyone done anything beefier? I'm afraid if I go with some Jeep leafs I'll have windup problems.

Suggestions and helpful information is appreciated. Thanks guys!

I would look into a set of later model GM truck springs. Either the 52" or 56" ones. I think if you go with anything other than original style springs, you may need to change the spring hangers on the frame. Not positive on that.

Can I bolt up later model springs on the original perches? If so what years? Is there a guide around for this? I've been looking and can't find much on the GMC leaf rear end upgrades. I can have custom springs cut but there are plenty of parts trucks around. Just want to see what has been working for others.

If I remember correctly the '73 and newer springs are 2-1/2" wide and your original springs are 2 or 2-1/4" wide. So no the later model springs will not work with the original spring hangers. Plus I'mnot sure on the length of your original springs. Seems like they are shorter than 52"

I might as well chop the frame down to a short box and notch it at the same time. Sounds like this isn't a swap where I can just bolt up something. I'll be pushing 400hp and want something that will hold up. Thanks for the help. I'll look into it more.
