you can convert any dome to led pretty easy.. 3 or 4 leds and a resistor .. radio shack has the parts, ebay has them cheaper.. if you have one that is to bright, solder in a 200 ohm resistor and cool it off some.. good leds cost under a quarter, same with resistors.. lot of how to help on line.. i'll be any help can

i would put it on the original wires.. your not drawing enough current to heat up the wires...

You can readily buy drop in LED bulbs. NO need to buy resisters, and solder your own LED's together. The LED's you can buy at RadioShack are glass dome LED's and not the much newer SMD LED's. The glass dome LED's are dim compared to the SMD's. The old stock bulbs will look completely DIM compared to a good LED in there.

Yes, do you know the bulb number for the cargo lamp bulb?

www.v-leds.com is where I got all my L.E.D.'s and my H.I.D.'s for my Suburban. My dome lights were a part # 211-2 for both the front and the rear like this...

And this is what i replaced them with from v-leds.com 2 up front and one in the back,

Re: L.E.D. dome light conversion kit

I picked up a drop in LEd replacement from superbrightleds.com when I placed an order for LED's for my dash. It's nice, not stupid bright, but bright. I will be getting a new clear lens with my next LMC order. For my cargo light I picked up this eight inch strip of eight LEDs at Big Chain auto parts. It's cool, you can (and I did) cut it into two four inch strips. I did this and hard wired them in because my bulb socket was effed up. That worked very well.

I picked up some super cheap red 1157 LED bulbs off eBay for my tail lamps. They were total junk. Crumbled apart in my hands just trying to overcome the spring pressure of the socket. Superbrightleds.com isn't the cheapest around, but they sell a great product and they will get my business again.

Bonuscab,
Could you explain in more detail how you can cut the led strips and wire them up? I think that is my plan too.

I used superbright LED's also. Great products. I thought they were reasonably priced vs other stores.

I looked for a direct replacement style panel like in the pic above (post #11) but couldn't find any. I used some small square panels & fabbed my set-up....

I replaced all my lighting with LED and also replaced the light housing & lens. I got everything from LMC. The courtesy lights, I just added a set from LMC and added it to the one presently there, which gave me 3 lights. None of my lights worked either when I got the truck. The door switch terminals were rusted and no longer were attached, so I replaced those also and once I reattached the wiring, the light now work.

As far as the Cargo light, once I replaced the housing, it worked. The housing was all rusty on the inside, so the bulb wasn't making good contact.
