need to buy a headliner retainer for rear of '50 AD

Is there any vendor or source for the rear retainer strip used on the headliner? I have not been able to locate one from any of the usual sources. Any help appreciated. Thanks

I have never seen them listed anywhere. I need one too and I was thinking of just making one out of stainless...I will make a cardboard template and mark the holes then transfer over to metal. Then bend, drill and cut.

Is that the one that holds the front and rear together? I think there are two different ones in the middle. The early ones have a backer welded in across the the roof but around 51 it was deleted.
I was thinking about using one to support a overhead console for the radio in my 52.just passing a thought.

no I think it goes at the back where the headliner meets the metal like right above the drivers head.

right? lol

I'm just guessing as my truck was apart when I bought it and I have a rod doors headliner.

Cajun-

What did you use on yours? Did your interior guy make one? I have a fiberglass headliner (simular to Rod doors) and am trying to come up with something for that strip.

I screwed mine into the sheetmetal above your head and the front hooks into the the windshield trim. The sides press up against the sheetmetal "wings" that are above the windlace strips above the doors.

it works, Im not 100% happy but its good enough. I used stainless Phillips screws with the little trim rings around them in the back to screw it in.

I did 3m tape it in at first but a short run down the interstate with the a/c on (windows down) and it fell haha. scared the crap out of me.

I just went and looked the "s" shaped one goes in the middle to hald the front and rear panels together. There is a flat one across the back

I have a fiberglass headliner and one big tip on installation.....Do your fitting before installing the windlass around the doors. I had already installed the windlass and had a trying time getting the headliner in. I finally won.;)
