Electric Fan Question

i am taking the flex fan off, heard too many bad stories. what kind of cfm do i need from a fan to cool a 350 hp motor. any suggestions of what type of fan to use. iheard spahl fans were good.

i aslo heard that 95 and above ford tarus fans were good too. i dont know need help

Jackal2k9 04-23-2003 02:49 PM

use a early 90's nissan maxima or altiam fan. i put altima fans in mine. they are actually mf'd by a good company out of georgia. It's a dual fan setup that fits over the raditor PERFECTLY. i can get some pics of the setup if you want.

sorry man wrong pic better now?

Jwill41 04-23-2003 05:59 PM

gmc67swb gave me one that looks just like that. I have been trying to figure out what it came out of. I mounted an angle where the old shroud mounted at the bottom. I drilled two holes in the angle for the "pins" on the new fans. I can not believe how good the fit is. It fits PERFECT. One of the ears on top is broke off and I would like to get another one just like it. Also want one for my 68.

How do you even go about wiring up an electric fan setup? I wouldn't mind trying it some day...

Jackal2k9 04-23-2003 06:06 PM

these are very perfect fans for these trucks.... i had no idea how well the fit was going to be. i just measured side to side and top to bottom and found a match. Brought it home and it was perfect. I can draw up a wiring diagram and a list of parts for any one who would like. If you cant find a set of fans i can find one in a yard down here and get it to you for gas+shipping+fans. I get 9.5 mpg and its 15 miles one way. pay upon delivery of course and ill include the yard recipt. Most yards sell them for under 50 bucks. My set was 35 with a cracked shroud that i fiber galssed later.

MandarinSixSeven 04-23-2003 06:12 PM

Could you please draw up a diagram and post it, or e-mail to bensonlott@shaw.ca?

I'm interested :D

more that dman nissan pic keeps showing up ... it's one for good now.

Jackal2k9 04-23-2003 07:24 PM

both of those holes are round i dont know why that one looks square. also, you have to notch the angle aluminum. I can put more pics of the top and bottom notched segments if you like. I'm working on a wiring diagram right now.

I mounted a flex-a-lite black magic fan into the original shroud, works great...

Jackal2k9 04-23-2003 08:48 PM

BTW these fan setup cost about 50 bucks fully installed. less if you got your fans free :). Ok ive got the wiring diagram ready to email. post your address if you want it.

Do I just ask for a 30 amp relay at the parts store?

Jackal2k9 04-23-2003 09:25 PM

30 amp 12v single switch relay. At the Orielly here they sell them as off-road lighting relays out on the shelves. Check there first. Otherwise you might have to go t an eletronics outlet (maybe radioshack) and get one there.
