I used the Painless 18 circuit part # 10206 http://www.shopatron.com/home/search...=10206&x=7&y=7 you will need to do some splicing and soldering, but it comes with extra circuits for power windows. fuel pump, fans etc.

Re: Complete rewiring
I would vote for American Autowire or M and H....but I do not see either in your poll

Re: Complete rewiring
You really should be looking for a wiring harness that has the circuits for everything you will be needing. A 12 circuit wiring harness is just the bare minimum. You should look it at least an 18 circuit wiring harness. I used the Painless wiring harness made for our trucks. It has the correct connections included. I used the 18 circuit truck wiring system (1967-1972) part # 10206. I installed it close to 10 years ago and have had no issues with it. Jegs has it for $388.00!

Re: Complete rewiring
Ive used ez wire twice and painless once. Currently have a new ez wire that will go in the 68 when Im ready.
I think they are all good----and fairly easy to use----ez wire is cheaper and the quality is as good. |
Re: Complete rewiring
Painless 18 circuit as mentioned by keith. Take Your time and it will turn out great. i got mine from jegs with a 100 dollar rebate from painless. it was well worth it.

Re: Complete rewiring
I vote for American Auto Wire also. Ive never seen such a nice complete kit before.

If i knew of them i would include it too |
Re: Complete rewiring
out of curiosity..do these 'universal' kits come with plugs or pigtails that connect to all the accessories in the truck? like the ignition plug, gauge plug, headlight switch, wiper switch, etc. or do you have to reuse the ones you currently have(which seems kinda useless to have to use old connecters). I know some kits come pre terminated, others are more bulk. just curious what others are doing when it comes to the connecters.

Re: Complete rewiring
I used the painless 18 curcuit on my truck but i wish i had not. It has extra wires for everything which is nice but i dont have any of that stuff so now i just have a bunch of unused wires. The harness was not bad i just didnt get the right one for my use.

Re: Complete rewiring
the poll is tied 5 to 5 EZ Wiring and Painless -Truck with zero votes on the others.. Sounds like had i known of and included American Auto Wire they would be at 7

And to understand yall correctly you are saying AAW includes new ones with their kit?? in addition they throw in a headlight and ignition switch as well? |
Re: Complete rewiring
AAW sounds so complete, neat and easy. I see you're local. Are you doing the install yourself or having someone do it?
This is what sold me on the AAW kit. I don't have it, yet, but will be buying their kit soon. |
Re: Complete rewiring
I'd also go with American Auto Wire their wiring is superior to all the rest they use haevy duty wire and connectors plus you can buy direct from them and cut out the middle man.
www.americanautowire.com I used their harness to repair the A/C harness and you can see the difference in quality. |

Re: Complete rewiring
I bought my AAW kit from a board vendor and saved money over buying it direct. And yes the kit comes with headlight switch and ignition switch (with new keys). So you may to have your doors rekeyed if you want to run the same key on everything.
Cant remember which board vendor I bought it from >=( |
Re: Complete rewiring
American Autowire part#510089.
Rockauto usually has the best price. |
