Problem Starting My 86 Chevy
I went to start my truck to goto work, and when I turned the ignition to start the engine it just "clicked" once. The gauges worked, but it just wouldn't start... What could the problem be? :(

Re: Problem Starting My 86 Chevy
Starter solenoid, battery terminals, loose connections, bad ground, bad starter

Re: Problem Starting My 86 Chevy
If the starter solenoid is bad, do I need to buy a whole new solenoid.
And bad ground??? Ground to what? Thank you? Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Problem Starting My 86 Chevy
try crossing the starter, they will help eliminate some possibilities

Re: Problem Starting My 86 Chevy
Ok guys, I found the problem... GROUND WIRE!!!! Wtf. Anyways I had autozone check my battery & starter, and both were good. So I looked under the hood to inspect the connection, and my ground wire was VERY loose. So after I installed the starter I moved the ground wire and it started to crank the engine... Did I connect the starter wrong when I reinstalled it? So when I took the starter out I think I put the hot wire on first... All I know is when the ground wire hits the alternator is cranks even though there is no key in the ignition... What did I do wrong?
