Between the studs as in across from each other in a star pattern; not between each consecutive stud around the pattern perimeter.

Re: 5 lug pattern?

Typically when you see lug patterns listed, the first number is the number of studs. The second number is the diameter of the circle of the studs. This diameter is on the centerline of the studs themselves.

5 on 5 or 5x5 = 5 studs, 5" diameter circle. 6 on 5.5 or 6x5.5 = 6 studs, 5.5" diameter circle. Even number studs are easy to measure. Odd number studs require it be done a little different.

Hopefully this chart will help some.
