1/4 mile ?

Has anyone made a pass with a bone stock 350 longbed with 307 gears? I've seen some posts here with impressive times for tricked 350's and was wondering what they turned before the mods.

For a stocker, you'll be looking at anywhere from very high 16's to 18's...and I've seen a 4x4 put up even slower numbers, with the extra weight...

Your certainly not going to miss the race if you blink with those times!! Thats about what I expected.
When I refered to " some impressive times " in my post it was you I was referring too.

Are you planning any more mods this year?

geez..I thought maybe you were talking about mine..
"shake down time this year..13.40 at 102.7...woohoo..12.774 at 106.38 with a 75hp shot"

buckola 05-01-2003 03:27 PM

Theres no question BIGJIMZ that yours smokes!!! It's just that Project 70 has done to his ...what I intend to do with mine.

Plus... I am a little bias with 70 GMC's;)

I'm flattered. :D

Hopefully, this summer, if money allows, I'll be pushing quite a bit more horsepower...as it is, I've got "just" 230 to the wheels, tops. At the least, I want to put in a bigger cam (I have a 260H, want to go to an XE262H) and a set of headers along with a new exhaust all the way back, and add an H-pipe in. I'd like to at least rebuild the bottom end of the engine as well, and use that as an excuse to make it a 383...either that, or swap blocks and go for a 406! Regardless of how I do it, my horsepower target is at least 350...which shouldn't be too hard to hit, especially if I add the big cubes.

It's all dependent on funds...

That, and I also need to figure out why my 700R4 won't stay in first gear when it should be. Either that, or I need to adjust the governor so that WOT shifts happen on their own at 5500RPM instead of 4100RPM...

My 70 C20 Chevy did 10.79 @ 62.96 MPH in the 1/8 mile last weekend at the track. Im pritty stock except for headers, HEI, and edelbrock carb. I also got 4.10s with helps a lot i think.

my truck went a 16.48 when it was stock

Project1970 05-01-2003 10:36 PM

HotRod929: You'd probably cut a low-to-mid16 quarter...on those 15.7/86mph runs, I was running low 10's at 70mph.
