Re: disapointed
google search "cupping the lower control arms." also check to see if your tires are sitting on the inner fenders, they may need to come out.

Re: disapointed
or you could buy a set of $29 lower cups from suicidedoors/thorbros/qualityairride and cut them down to 1 1/2 - 1 5/8". it will get the truck down when aired out without all the trouble of modifying the lower A arms.

Re: disapointed
pictures will help us help you ;). As mentioned, you can cut and plate the lower control arm to make them lower...were there large cups that go under the bags to fit in the spring pocket? If so, those can/should be cut down a bit. Possibly the shocks can be limiting your travel? What size drop springs did you have before? Do you have drop spindles?

Re: disapointed
In many cases, the air spring size with the upper plate mounted over the upper spring cup gives the suspension a similar height as the coil spring, which means that you'll need to cup the lower control arm spring mount as mentioned earlier. This is one of the advantages of going with an aftermarket lower control arm that has a cupped lower spring mount built in. Here's a photo of my tubular arms with the air springs deflated...

Re: disapointed
I'm sure you meant drop springs and not shocks, but you should make sure that your air bag is fully compressed when aired out and the shock isn't holding you up from going lower. I never had inner fenders in, but from the looks of it with my 22's the fenders would definitely held my ride up too. Do you have drop spindles?
I have a set up cupped lca's that I'm not going to use. I bought them off the board and decided against it since right now it sits level with the rear air'd out...let me know if you're interested. If you're close to Sac, you could pick them up cuz the darn things are heavy... |
