Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
avalanche engineering went under there is two more places that make one but not as pricey as they was.
|
Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
Auto world has a nice cross member for these trucks. Way nicer than the avalanche one by far.
|
Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
Yeah i like auto world one too other option is http://www.tndieselpower.com/site/pr...ember-package/
|
Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
I used autoworld mounts. That's not a bad price for the mount and member kit. I believe my mounts were around 300$. But I made a template for next time.

Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
I build my own brackets but use auto world's poly mounts. Do you plan to do anything to the engine while it's out? KDP fixed?

Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
I bought the whole truck that was totaled. The motor has a ton of stuff done to it injectors, pump work, delivery valves, hybrid turbo, head studs, cam, timing, flywheel, low stall converter, tranny valve body and shafts. It made several ponies in his truck and would honestly black out both lanes of the interstate. The kdp struck him a few years ago.

Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
I'm fitting the intercooler today did u use the dodge? That's what I'm doing and it fits pretty sweet when I flip it upside down and not much cutting. Did u leave the brace out for the hood latch? It's weak as hell without it but nowhere to mount it with the cooler in the way

Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
I flipped my intercooler upside down. I also left the bracket and the safety latch out.

Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
Got the intercooler mounted today. I have an Idea I want to run by everybody. I have 2 3/4 inches between the radiator and intercooler. If I mount the fan in front of the radiator and wire it to push will it still draw enough air for the intercooler? I'm keeping the engine compartment as clean as possible by hiding everything wiring, batteries etc. just thought that would be great to even hide the fan.

Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
It could but I generally mount them on the engine side so the fans don't over heat. Usually there isn't room to mount them in front. By the way, where you have that breather on your vacuum pump is actually your outlet for the vacumm accessories.
|
Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
Yea I know I'm not running any vacuum on anything. Using hydro boost. Didn't know what else to put on it to keep the dirt out.

No a/c.

Re: '84 k30 cummins swap build pics
I just got done cutting the supports on the inside of the core support out, so the intercooler is now sitting in there, right in front of the radiator. that way I don't have to trim the grille this time.
only thing I would do different on the crossmember is make it removeable from the bottom. I didnt' on my last one, and had to cut it in two to get the oilpan off, so its getting rebuilt differently this time around. |
