Removing '78 Scottsdale 20 emblem

Yo! Y'all!
Sorry I've been so scarce, but I'm just finishing a year long addition onto the house.
FRANKENTRUCK is finally getting a primer coat. Hardly looks like the old ugly truck! No more bovine-crushed rear quarter, no more bullet hole!
I'm finding conflicting information in my searches for information as to how to remove the fender emblems.
My 1978 Scottsdale 20 emblems are attached with speed nuts. Are there any secrets, other than removing the outer fender, to removing and replacing these emblems for painting?
Thank you all very much for all your help in the past,...FRANKENTRUCK would not be the truck that it is, if not for all your technical help and support! It's one hell of a truck that you helped me build from scratch!
I'll post pics via the FRANKENTRUCK thread once I've got it primer gray.
Thanks, Todd.

Assuming you want to keep them, other than removing the fenders you'd have to find someone with very skinny arms (and two elbows).

If you do not need to keep them you can whack them with a hammer (vertically) and it will shear the pins, allowing them to fall off.

Howdy Keith!
Thanks. These will easily be refurbished (polished and new paint in the inserts), so I'll be removing the fenders to get them off and back on again (Yuk!).
Let me ask this,...with that in mind, would final paint be best with fenders off? Then, once the paint has dried, the emblems could be attached, and then the fenders bolted to the painted vehicle. Rather than removing/replacing freshly painted fenders.
Thoughts?
Thanks, Todd.

I would say yes. Let me know when you are ready to put them back on and I can talk you through (in great detail) how we used to do it.
