4:10 Eaton
4 Attachment(s)
I have a non posi eaton pulled from a 69 3/4 ton Chevy. It looks to be in good shape. 41 teeth on the ring gear and 10 teeth on the pinion gear.
$150 plus shipping. If the shipping is more than $100 to the east coast guys, I will pick up the difference. wpecina is first up. Thanks, Ray |
Re: 4:10 Eaton
Interested pending fitment. I think I have an HO72. Not positive though. It's in a 1 ton dually. If it is, will this fit?
Thanks, Tony :gmc2: Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 4:10 Eaton
I don't know for sure. There are some members that know the compatibilities.

Re: 4:10 Eaton
If it is confirmed that this will in fact work in my truck I am interested pending a shipping quote to zip 08721 in New Jersey. Let's figure out if it works first before you waste any time on that quote though.
You could also quote the shipping to my business address in Freehold NJ zip 07728. We have a loading dock there. Might be easier to unload it. Thanks, Tony |

Re: 4:10 Eaton
They do interchange. From the best that I can find an HO72 has the load bolt for the ring gear, and the HO52 does not. That seems to be the only differance I can find between the two diffs.

Re: 4:10 Eaton
Wayne...Let me know when you find out. I can ship Monday.
Tony...They are compatible with the HO72. Member Jessechop has done the swap. pummkin...thanks! Thanks, Ray |
Re: 4:10 Eaton
Ray,
I had about 22.2 turns of the driveshaft for 10 turns of one rear wheel. Per another member that yields about a 4:44 ratio - can I assume it is a 4:57 from this? Thanks, Wayne |
Re: 4:10 Eaton
Wayne, Its most likely a 4:57. You can pull the cover and look for the stamping to be sure.

Also, coming from an axle ratio in the high 500's, and a top speed of about 55mph, what can I expect out of a 4:10 swap? |
Re: 4:10 Eaton
There are 17 splines on the axles. I would think you could gain 20% top speed if yours is in the 5's.

This much I know.... All HO72s have the load bolt.... Some HO52s do have the load bolt and some do not. Before anyone mentions it.... yeah, I realize this is an old thread. Just taking the opportunity to share a snippet of information. :) |
Re: 4:10 Eaton
Stocker is correct. Early ho52 did not have load bolt late ones did. Pumpkins do interchange. Real difference is ho72 used bigger brakes since mostly used in 1 ton trucks

Re: 4:10 Eaton
I've got an ho 52/72 sitting in my garage. I'll look at it late afternoon for you.

Re: 4:10 Eaton
Buddy...that would be great if you check and see if you have a 4.10 gear set in an HO52/72 carrier...please let me know.

Re: 4:10 Eaton
hey Lisa, if you have gears for Charlie, I'll take the locker off your hands if it has one :D
|
Re: 4:10 Eaton
and btw, the 4.10 should be stamped on the ring gear expressed in tooth count..
