Heater core install
Is there any particular reason why it would NOT be a good idea to install the core upside down in the housing so as not to have to criss criss the hoses? Another words, why can't the bottom hose go to the water pump and the top hose go to the intake manifold as long as you flip the core?

In my case, the hoses were different sizes.

Re: Heater core install
Yes, mine as well but as long as I use thw correct size hose on the correct side of the core and that hose goes to where it's supposed to does it matter if the core is installed upside down is the real question.

Re: Heater core install
My understanding is it prevents forming an air pocket inside the core.

I did and it seems to work fine.I like the cleaner look of it this way.I live in a fairly mild climate tho.

Re: Heater core install
Yes from what I can understand, the core is setup to feed from the bottom, and exit from the top.. this keeps more water in the core for a better heat exchange (warmer air in the heater). You may or may not even notice the difference if your coolant system is full.
Try it out and see how you like it. Shawn |
