Steel LSx Valve Cover Flanges for Fabricated Covers?
I'm looking for a pair of steel valve cover flanges to build my own covers. I've found plenty of aluminum flanges, but I need steel flanges for this project. Anyone know who makes them?

Not sure I have ever come accross them. You are aware that all LS heads except for 97/98 are center bolt? Bolts are going to go right through the chevy logo. I commend you for trying to make a set.
These are probably some of the better looking mass produced ones I have seem: http://www.hawkinsspeedshop.com/ls1-...olet-logo.html These arent bad either: http://paceperformance.com/i-9375490...ed-emblem.html |

I'll weld bosses (if necessary) and drill and tap the heads to make them perimeter bolt.
They'll be going in my '66 C10, first year the 327 was available in the C10 so I want to make the LS look as original as possible. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...B58A1DCFA5.jpg Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Steel LSx Valve Cover Flanges for Fabricated Covers?
i think they would look awesome when done.
i have a question, since i am assuming your are not running the coils on top of the valve covers. why not take the stock valve covers leave them in place. and make your old valve covers just a hair bigger on the inside diameter than the outside diameter of the stock ls valve covers. then you could use the stock ls studs comming up out of the top of the valve cover to clip onto the underside of the sbc valve covers. then you have no bolts going through the center, and dont have to worry about flanges or oil leaks. just an idea and my 2 cents. |

You could just buy a pair of ls1 to old style valve cover adapters like thesehttp://www.speedwaymotors.com/LS-Val...ers,41789.html

Thanks for the suggestions but I want to weld the reshaped script covers to an LS shaped flange so it looks just like an original script cover, except the ends are rounded. I want the ends rounded so it shows that it's an LS motor. The adapters wouldn't do that. The coil packs will be relocated and hidden. |

Find someone close to you with a water jet and have some steel flanges cut to match what you are trying to do. Then you could tig weld the covers you have to those flanges. Would look pretty cool.
