zero rates all the way around?
Since the zero rate is another leaf really and keeps the ride the same is there any reason I couldn't put them all the way around to give me a 1" lift? I am running 32x11.50s on my stock rallys on my 87 and when backing up and in a bind sometimes you can feel it SLIGHTLY rub I think that 1" would correct it and was just curious.

Nope, no reason you can't.
I run them on the front to put the wheels in the center of the wheelwells. The added lift was just a bonus. |

I just put a set on the front of mine. Although I just made mine out of some 1x3 bar stock we had laying around at work. I've got a 6 in BDS lift on the truck and it sat nose down by about 2 inches. They're safe since they're bolted to the spring pack like an extra leaf.

I'm a truck suspension newb but have a directly related question about this. I bought a set of used wheels with 285/75/16 tires for my 3/4 ton 4x4 and they rubbed the front fender just a little bit approaching wheel lock in each direction. Would this be a valid option then to gain just a hair (an inch) of additional clearance? What about the issues like steering length/geometry that people mention with the real lift "kits" would anything else need to be done or just install and go? I have a bit of fab experience so making steel blocks would be pretty easy or I see there are some inexpensive kits out there too:

If the truck isn't already lifted then you probably wont have any steering issues going up an inch. I already had a 6 in lift with a raised steering arm and it made the drag link angle a bit too steep. I ended up adding a dropped pitman arm to get it closer to level. I didn't move the axle forward at all though.
