Separating the steering column shaft from a manual steering box

After searching the forum for a solution to this problem, I have mostly figured this out. However, the one piece I cannot figure out is how to separate the "wavy" end of the shaft from the actual steering box itself. It seems to be connect with giant rivets, but it must disconnect somehow. Any help is appreciated.

You will need to grind the heads off of the rivets that attach the flange on the end of the steering column shaft to the rag joint, to separate the two. Then when you re-assemble, just use the appropriate size bolts with lock nuts.

That makes perfect sense! Thank you so much for the answer. I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the rag joint while I'm at it.
