1969 dual MC in a '65 c10 - brake rod length questions

Howdy folks.

I have a 1965 c10, but it has a 1969 dual pot, power brake master cylinder on it.

Below is a photo of my brake rod that connects from the brake pedal to the MC assembly.

This brake pedal push rod is from a 1965 Chevrolet C10 pickup(at least, that is what it came off of) is 8 5/8 inches long from the round end to the threaded end.

7/16 - 20 thread.

more pics, here

My question is this... is there a '67-'72 brake pedal rod that is longer, but will fit in the same place?

A lot of stuff on my truck is from different years, etc..

:D

Thanks a bunch for any information.

I dont think we have one of those around. I am going to drive my 70 tomorrow. Ill have a look at it but i am not sure I can measure that on the truck. Mine is not original either. I believe it came from a 71.

I think what you'll have to do is get a threaded coupler and a piece of allthread and make it longer. You run into a similar problem when you put a 73-87 C20 booster on a 67-72.

airdale94,

howdy.

Yep, I was pondering the coupler method and cutting it to fit.

Thanks for the tip/reply.

I had a one piece, longer rod I made in machine shop class years ago outta some nice steel... but I had a panic brake stop the past Saturday and dog gone if it didn't bend the rod! Ooops.

Good thing I'm a pack rat and kept the original rod in my parts stash!

It has one rod from the pedal to a pivot. The other rod on the pivot goes to the brake booster. I have no idea about the length.

Thanks Wrenchbender Ret..

I was looking on a few vendors sites and noticed that pivot, was wondering about it.
