anybody use chevelle exhaust kit?

Quick and easy exhaust question, actually two.

1. Anybody use a kit for the A body on there 2wd with any luck? Want to do 2 1/2" kit on the Burb, but the lack of kits out there for these trucks is lame. How easy was yours? Have to modify much? I'm running mid-lengths, a H-pipe and Cherry Bombs so I was planning on some mods, but wondering ho close the axle bends were.

2. Any have any luck with "header buddies", those belled flange jobs for the collector connection. I've only ever used the old three bolt flanges and gaskets. Ya, constantly fighting the exhaust leaks gets old fast.

Thanks guys

If I were you, I would just take it to a local muffler shop and have them set you up with a nice system made to your liking.

Oh, and get rid of the headers and put the OE exhaust manifolds in again.
Headers are more trouble than what they are worth.

All the muffler shops around here to crappy work or you have to pay to much for a higher end shop, which I'm not down for. I've got no problem with the fab work, that's what I do for a living anyway. I just was wondering mainly about the bends around the axle/springs/shock mounts.

I've had good luck with the Flowmaster DIY mandrel bent kits. Takes some fab work, but the finished product is worth the effort.

The flowmaster kits use heavy, coated pipes and really last.

I have had better luck getting 3 bolt flanges to seal with a steel donut gasket.just make sure the gasket doesnt fit into the pipe

Re: anybody use chevelle exhaust kit?

Checked the Flowmaster kit on Summit, it lists as 16 ga. tube. LMC sells a kit but it comes in 2 1/4" only, also listed as 16 ga. with glass packs and no H-pipe for $189.95. Summit wants $260 for the 2 1/4" kit and $280 for the 2 1/2".
Anybody ever use the LMC kit? I'd would probably be swapping out the glass pack for some Cherry Bombs anyway so I'm not to worried about the mufflers that come with it.

I thought it was good...I can get you a photo from the bottom side if you like..the only shot I have of the rear is distant.. shocks are green...urethane hanger bushings red.

Looks good! I figured there had to be a fair amount of clearance on those kits if they are designed to clear the upper links on an A body.
