Ignition cylinder removal-lost key.

Good to be here, looks like anything I'll ever need to figure out could be solved with the help of someone here.Heres my first challenge for you,how the hell do I get the cylinder out without a key?I bought the truck [70 c-20] drove it awhile, enjoy the torque, sound, feel and look of it,staight body 350/350 top to bottom chevy orange in color...discovered an oil leak, raised the motor, droped the pan, pulled the timing cover, replaced the seal, got a one piece 'sure dry' gasket for the pan,put a new motor mount on pass side, new fine thread grade 8 bolts for the mount brackets, torqued everything back together, inch and foot lb....lost my damn key....I put wire in the hole to try and disengage it,tryed unscrewing the outer bezle, the cylinder keeps it locked in...any solution?

If it's an old worn switch, it should be easy to pick. There are videos on youtube that will show you how.

Take the passenger door lock and send the numbers on the back to LocDoc on the board here and he can make you a new key.

Like Jason said look for a code number on the passenger door lock.

Read through this thread. Read the whole thing before you try anything suggested in it.

There is no such thing as a master key for Chevy side bar locks. If he told you that he was lying to you. He may have had a try-out set, which consists of a set of 150 special keys. If he said he had a master why did he have to replace the ignition? All he should have had to do is cut a key for the lock once he got it out ($30 max.). $100 is more than a little excessive to replace an ignition lock cylinder with no key. Did you check the passenger door lock cylinder for a code number as suggested? With a code number I could have cut you a key by code for $7.50 + $.50 postage...
