WTB 5 lug axles
I know this is probably a long shot but I'll give it a try. I am looking for a set of 5 lug axles or conversion axles for my 68 rear end. They obviously need to be for the narrow rear end. Let me know what you have and how much shipping would be to a 95240 business address. Please respond in thread.

Re: WTB 5 lug axles
I have a set..... I'll just need to make sure they're the right size. I actually have two sets. do you know how long they need to be?
|
Re: WTB 5 lug axles
Actually I don't but I know they are shorter than the later 70-72 axles and I have a set of those so let me measure them and we will go from there. I'm guessing since the early axle housing is 1 1/2" short then the axle should be 3/4" shorter?

Re: WTB 5 lug axles
I looked at mine (Moser, for the late rear end) and they are 31 5/16 "
.. but the Moser for the early rear end shows 30 1/2 " Adding 3/4 per side that's within 1/16". 30.5 + .75 = 31.25 (31 1/4") I will tell ya, when I put the pin back in mine , the tolerances were spot on. You couldn't get it any closer. Just a light bump to get the pin to go back between the axle ends, but you could push it back out with your finger. It was definitely not as loose as with the original 6 luggers. So, I'm thinking the shorties are 30.5" long per side. That help? Running stock 5 lug axles, you should be really close with 30.5" Mosers are $260 + bearings and seals. Just FYI. |
Re: WTB 5 lug axles
Thanks Chad that helps a bunch. Where did you buy your Mosers from? Tony what do your axles measure?

Ordered mine straight from MEng. Super happy with them. 1/2 in studs, just FYI.

Re: WTB 5 lug axles
Hey Shawn and Chad. Got a question for y'all. I recently measured the rear end on my '70 C10. Turns out, it's the wider one. I plan to do the five lug swap too so would Shawn's longer set work for me (assuming you're looking for the shorter set as a replacement)?

Re: WTB 5 lug axles
You'd need the longer version axles. (same as mine Chris) Stock / Aftermarket .. either way. Same legth.
7/16 is stock Shawn. 1/2 is usually Ford. My truck is all 1/2 now. So, saying if you do Mosers you will likely need new lugs too. |
Re: WTB 5 lug axles
Lug nuts sold seperately.. Some assembly required. :D
(studs are pressed in when you get them too) |

I found this on the Summit website, looks like I need the 30 1/2" axles.

Re: WTB 5 lug axles
Will the stock bearing work? I just put in new seals and bearings and would hate to buy new ones if I didn't have to.

Re: WTB 5 lug axles
Yeah.. if theyre new, Id think youre good. The ones I got from Moser were just Napa bearings. Id say theyre just stock spec but maybe call and ask to be sure?

Re: WTB 5 lug axles
I will, thanks Chad. Tony put down the wrenches for a moment and take a measurement

Re: WTB 5 lug axles
ttt looking for a pair of 30.5" 5 lug axles
|
Re: WTB 5 lug axles
Most shorties out there will all be 6 lug. Id say if they are short 5 lug, theyre likely aftermarket.
