8 lug to 6 on a 14blt sf

Rearend went out and I found a sf for $100 so I just grabbed it. I put it under my truck and I really love my 20" wheels I have. Is there a cost effective way to change over to 6 lug? I would rather not have wheel adapters but I might have to go that route

Hubs are different size...you'll have to swap axles. There are two different lengths - 2WD is narrower than 4WD.

I've got a 95 that is 4wd. Would those axles work?

Nope, those are the wider ones, you need a 2WD for a straight swap.

So a 99-up 6 lug out of a 2wd?

Lol what an idiot. The 95 Z71 has a 14blt in it. It's nearly stripped except tranny and rearend. Well just tranny now!

Just buy new axles, Because of the nature of SF axles to wear where the bearing rides......http://www.ringpinion.com/b2c/Produc..._Gear_and_Axle

Don't let that wide one go, it's a great upgrade for Tahoes/Suburbans. It's the same width as the front on 4WD vehicles versus a few inches narrower as they come from the factory, makes the track widths almost exactly the same...plus it's a great strength upgrade!

Is the one out of the 3/4 the one I need to use? Or the one out of the z71?

You'll want to use the one out of a 2WD since that's what you have. The wider one will be better for a 4WD.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my first post. This rearend is going in my 92 that is 4x4, not one of my old trucks. The 3/4 8lug came out of a 4x4 and the 6lug is coming out of a 4x4. I guess they are the same width, just different gears and axles correct?

Are they both 14-bolt? I think all the 10-bolt are all narrower than the wide 14-bolter.
Check sleazebay, you might be able to find some 6-lug axles for the 14-bolt since it'll fit the 4WD better.

Yes both are 14 bolt. One is 6lug and the one I bought is 8lug
