Audiovox CCS-100 Cruise Control
 

KEH is installing the Audiovox CCS-100 Cruise Control on his truck like I have on mine. He asked me a couple of questions and I said I'd send a few pictures. Instead of showing just him I thought it best if I post the pictures for everybody.

I don't work for Audiovox or JC Whitney where I purchased it. The system works as advertised.

The first is a not very good shot of a bracket I "borrowed" from another engine I have in the garage.

The "cruise module" I mounted on that flat spot on the LF inner fender.

I have a later model HEI distributor. I hooked the blue wire to the "tach" pin on the distributor cap.

The final shot is of the connection to the carb. I used one of the many connectors supplied in the kit.

Looks like a simple clean install.

Any problems with it or variables in the throttle response?

If I pull my boat up a real long grade it eventually doesn't keep up. Most hills it does keep up.

Thanks for the pics. Does the kit not come with a mounting bracket? Or did the one you put on just work better?

I installed the same cruise in the 71 Motorhome before my trip to Tennessee. I loved it. I had to set it to the heavy vehicle setting on the control servo. It didn't slow down on most hills/mountains. It took about 2 hours to install.
After I installed it I figured there are ways to possibly install without having to see the servo. First idea is to install it under the dash near the glovebox and have it pull on the gas pedal. The second idea was to put it between the inner fender and outer fender near the drivers hinge. You wouldn't be able to see much there either. For a show truck I would look at those locations. It would really clean things up.

I honestly don't remember if I got a bracket in the kit or not. Around the same time I was converting to an auto transmission. I know the bracket on the back of the intake for the kick-down cable came off another engine.

da-burb, was there a bracket in your kit?

yes, the bracket came attached to the servo. there wasn't anything to assemble. On my truck, the 71-72 trucks with the accelerator cable, not the rod, there is a hole in the bracket on the carb. I used that to attach the control cable. It couldn't have been easier.
