changing?

Hey, I am new to this site so lets see if I can figure out how to ask this without sounding like a moron. I have a 66' c10,lb step, big window, 292, and 4 on floor. I have decided to "build" a chassis swap for lack of better words. I am looking to find out if there's a year or years of truck someone can tell me i can buy that has the following; disc front, pwr steer, pwr brakes, 2 wheel drive, 5 lug front and rear. I want to stay with my ole' inline 6. I know it's crazy but I don't hot rod, I cruise. I am also after a million plus miles under my belt a LAZY driver. I WANT AN AUTO TRANS!!! that'll match to my 6? Trucks in this part of the country are easy to come by pretty cheap so help out a fellow Chevy lover? Thanks

Re: changing?

just get a 66' frame and a 1972 or later donor 1/2 truck and move it all over into the 66' frame.....easy as pie.
its all the same...only real differance it per i beleave 1968 had all drum brakes.

its all a bolt up change over,

and depending on your rear gears with a 292...if your a 3.50 gear or lower i would use a 700r4,
thats my .02 worth....im sure others have other ideas...all good..

Welcome first off. Secondly ill try to answer some questions for ya. For disc brakes you can get a complete crossmember from a 71-87 will work with minor issues. 71-72 are most common swaps. Get everything steering box, linkage etc. secondly you have a few options on the rear, you can swap for a 71-72 rear (they are 1-1 1/2" wider) than yours now or get with a vendor on site or early classics, cpp etc to get 5 lug axles.. But remember you need drums or disc for the rear I you buy axles and look at captainfab on here for steering box adaptor plates! Top notch... Get a duel pot master also from above options also. As far as trans you can go 350,400 or overdrive 700r4 or 2004r and will probably need a trans crossmember for any option. Good luck on your truck and search some build threads for more info
