66 swb traction problems
My dad has a 66, stock bottom end 350 with vortec heads, thumpr cam, th350 with 2800 stall, 3.73 rear welded up and 29.5x10.5 slicks running high 13s and is spinning 75% of the time at the line. He is switching to drag radials, m&h 275/60-15s so he doesn't have to swap wheels when he takes it to the drag strip. His suspension is bone stock, so for Christmas I am going to buy him some 90/10 front shocks and box in his trailing arms. Anything else we can do for cheap to help him hook up?

Re: 66 swb traction problems
Don't waste your money on 90/10, buy some adjustable shocks, even if they are single adjustable. The Competion Engineering 3-way adjustable are also a waste. You want an adjustable shock as track conditions vary. Also, the shock is going to be even more of a benifit if you have a spring more suited for weight xfer.
You also don't need to box the control arm, simply welding 6" sections of the seems every 6" or so will be plenty. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 66 swb traction problems
The rear shocks are also important. Has he weighed it front, rear and total? What tire pressures were tried?
